The overall solution was complete replacement of the roofing materials. This gave the Master Roof team to replace decking, address ventilation, and flashing issues. Overall, the work included the following:

• Removal of all shingles and underlayment.
• Installation of ½” plywood sheathing on the older portion of the home to provide a proper base for modern shingles.
• Removal of the ridge and soffit vents in favor of keeping the gable vents. 
• Installation of the Ultimate Boot Pipe, providing a long-lasting solution to flashing issues around the plumbing vent.
• Replacing the chimney flashing with a three-layer process: the first layer is an Ice and Water membrane around the chimney, extending 6 inches up the chimney brick. Second, each shingle gets a piece of aluminum step flashing and the corners get a piece of lead for proper flashing. Third, the team installed the counter flashing, made of lead flashing.
• Recommendation to replace the older gutter system with a new, bolted-on gutter.
